Glenview School Day
A Snow Day dream came true for Glenview students thanks to a generous donation from Crosspointe Church of Anaheim. Classes sled down a two-lane sled hill & built a snowman in a snow play area. For many children, grades Pre-K thru sixth, it was their first time ever touching snow! Many thanks to Crosspointe Church and their volunteers for cheering our students on and giving of their time to make the event possible.
Family Science Night
This week Glenview School held a Family Science Night, where students and their families participated in fun science-themed activities such as Force & Motion, Rock Hunt, Electricity, Rocket Launching and Magnets! Glenview's new STEM Lab (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) was opened for parents to tour with their Glenview Scholars. It was a learning filled evening with great thanks to Glenview's PTA for organizing!
Glenview Garden Harvest
Glenview Scholars worked together to harvest the school garden, with thanks to Doug Gould from "All About Food." Students learned about the importance of community gardens, and how to pick and clean butter lettuce, beets, white radishes, carrots and swiss chard. District Chef Orlando made a special visit to Glenview at lunch time, to provide a cooking demonstrating on a tasty vegetable stir fry, using vegetables which had been harvested. Students thoroughly enjoyed eating the healthy side dish with their lunch and marveled at the display of vegetables harvested in the Glenview garden. They also had the opportunity to take a selection of these fresh veggies home to share with their families.
Winter Wonderland Party
Over 260 students at Glenview saved $50 Bulldog Bucks to attend a special "Winter Wonderland Principal Party" to celebrate students' success and respectful, responsible and safe behavior at school. Many thanks to all Glenview parents who donated over 1000 marshmallows, hot cocoa and other supplies for the special activity and to the volunteers who assisted students in building snowman graham crackers. Students enjoyed cups of hot chocolate and a candy cane as a holiday treat for Showing their PAWS. An indoor winter wonderland was created for the day indeed!
Christmas Caroling
Glenview students Christmas Caroled all along Glenview Avenue in the evening as a holiday, musical treat for our Glenview neighbors and community. Neighbors were delightfully surprised & our students did an outstanding job!
Fall Planting Day
Glenview students planted onions, green beans, radishes, lettuce and more, and will have the opportunity to tend and care for the garden in the weeks to come, in preparation for a Fall Harvest Day. Students will also take part in class lessons connected to Garden Curriculum and other related topics such as the First Thanksgiving, Composting and Using Recipes thanks to the All About Food organization. Principal Party
Glenview Scholars celebrated their success in showing PAWSitive Behavior, Responsibility, Respect and Safety by earning a VIP party pass to a Board Game Party. PTA provided a popcorn snack and parent volunteers taught children to play checkers, dominoes, and other classics such as Trouble, Sorry and Chutes & Ladders. Support Glenview School & PTA by volunteering at our next PBIS Principal Party in December, and organizing this special Winter Wonderland Event for our Glenview Scholars!
Halloween Parade
Glenview School culminated Red Ribbon Week with a Halloween Parade where students created posters around the theme of "These PAWS don't touch drugs" to teach the importance of respecting oneself and living the healthiest life possible. Students dressed in costumes and paraded to music as parents and students cheered them on for this special community event.
